One bottle of VinVin wine permanently extracts 2 kg CO₂ from the atmosphere.

How does this work?

During its growth the grape-wine absorbs CO₂ from the atmosphere to build up its biomass by using the bound carbon (C).

VinVin uses this and other ligneous biomass to produce certified biochar. The carbon (C) is consequently fixed in the biochar and cannot escape into the atmosphere.

The biochar is later composted and added to the soil in the wineyard. This process improves the quality of the soil. It furthermore allows to avoid the use of climate-damaging mineral fertilizer, and to reduce chemical plant protection products.
